Deadlines for the Programme-PRe-Phase for the winter semester 2024

Application period: April 1, 2024 to September 5, 2024. 

Please note that you must also have completed your Programme-PRe-Phase by then. Please note that admission is only possible in person from July 8, 2024 to September 12, 2024 at the Admissions Office. Admission to a Bachelor's Programme after the general admission period (continuation period until October 31,2024) is only possible in legally stipulated exceptional cases.

The registration for the Programme-PRe-Phase is carried out within the scope of the online application in the TU's own campus software TISS, opens an external URL in a new window. Prospective students can create a TISS Guest Account there and register for the study consultation phase of the desired Bachelor's Programme.

The Programme-PRe-Phase of the Bachelor's Programme in Technical Chemistry begins with an online self-assessment. The online self-assessment serves the self-assessment of the applicants regarding their choice of Programme in terms of the basic suitability for the chosen Bachelor's Programme. The online self-assessment test can be carried out by the applicants independently and from any location. This stage of the Programme-PRe-Phase is completed with the full execution of the self-assessment test; the result achieved does not enter further into the procedure. You will receive a confirmation after completion, please keep this as proof that you have completed the Self-Assessment - you will be able to enter this in the TISS Guest account during the procedure.

Attention: We will send you the confirmation code to the email address you used to register for the Self Assessment. Therefore, please use an email address that you will still have access to in the coming months.

The EChem test must be passed within the admission period. Here, basic chemical knowledge is tested in order to give applicants the opportunity to assess their previous knowledge in order to prepare themselves optimally for their studies. The result of the EChemTest is purely for self-reflection of the applicants.

Attention: You have to register at the TU Vienna in the EChemTest system BEFORE taking the EChemTest. Please use the same email address that you use for the online application, otherwise we will not be able to assign the results.

In a subsequent counselling interview with representatives of the faculty and the students, applicants have the opportunity to ask questions and clarify their ideas about the study programme in Technical Chemistry and the resulting career opportunities, for example (1) the motives for choosing the study programme, (2) the process and effort of the study programme, (3) the expectations of the study programme as well as (4) the job description of a chemist.

This procedure does not serve as a ranking or admission procedure, but is purely a support for the choice of study and is therefore recommended by both the faculty and the student representation.

The result of the Programme-PRe-Phase is intended to support the choice of Bachelor's Programme. In addition to fulfilling the other admission requirements according to § 63 UG, admission to the programme requires the completion of the Programme-PRe-Phase, but not a specific result of the same.

The administration of the Programme-PRe-Phase is carried out electronically; the Admissions Office can call up proof of fulfilment during the admission process.

The fully completed Programme-PRe-Phase is valid for a period of three academic years (6 semesters). If any changes are made to the procedure within this period, the Programme-PRe-Phase is still considered completed. Thereafter, the  Programme-PRe-Phase must be completed in full again.
