TU Wien is increasingly incorporating courses on interactions between science, technology and society into its curricula.  This opens up new opportunities for students and researchers to acquire skills in reflecting on the social implications of their research (fields) and to learn how social responsibility can be actively practiced. This specific type of teaching also poses challenges, such as bridging different styles of thinking between students from technical fields and teachers from other fields (e.g. science and technology studies, sociology, philosophy, ethics, law).

This international workshop was organized together with colleagues from other universities, and with additional support from STS Austria, to facilitate mutual exchange on good approaches, methods and tools in this specific type of teaching. The workshop will be accompanied by a Student Sounding Board, which will actively participate in the exchange.
