Research Unit of Polymers and Composites

Our activities focus on materials, testing and processing methods and range from 3D printing of artificial organ and tissue models, the development of novel photopolymers and materials for biomedicine, to fibre-reinforced plastics, polymer recycling and sustainability.

Most of our research topics are experimentally oriented and include both very basic aspects as well as application-driven work in the context of industrial projects. The team members have a very broad technical background with expertise in mechanical engineering, materials science, polymer chemistry, biology, plastics technology, physics and mechatronics.

In this Research Unit are three Research Groups active:
