In the research group for structural polymers thermoplastic polymers, copolymers, polymer blends, elastomers and duromers, polymeric biomaterials for medical technology and biodegradable polymers are characterized and tested.

The focus of the work is on the structure-property relationships and questions about structure formation such as crystallization and the (physical) network or entanglement structure. Another focus of our research is fiber and particle-reinforced composite materials for applications in mechanical engineering and automotive engineering, as well as resource-friendly technologies of polymer materials. We have many years of expertise of testing plastics.

Teaching includes lectures, laboratory exercises as well as seminar and project work in the bachelor's and master’s degree for the fields of mechanical engineering, industrial engineering - mechanical engineering, process engineering, as well as the master’s degree in materials science and biomedical engineering.
