In a ceremony at Berlin State Library, the 'Initiative Fortbildung für wissenschaftliche Spezialbibliotheken und verwandte Einrichtungen e.V.' (Initiative for Advanced Training in Special Academic Libraries and Related Institutions) was awarded the Karl Preusker Medal. This is in recognition of the commitment of the association, which is run on a voluntary basis and has made outstanding contributions in the field of further education and training since its foundation in 2001. As a member of the Initiative, TU Wien also makes use of its varied programme.

In its statement, the jury highlighted the high quality and thematic diversity of the training courses, which are not limited to specific issues facing special libraries but cover the entire spectrum of librarianship. The Initiative always examines current developments in libraries and society, and frequently launches new, pioneering topics.
