We are pleased to announce that an article about DieRaum23 has been published for the current edition of the journal RaumPlanung of the IfR (Informationskreis für Raumplanung). RaumPlanung is a recognised journal for spatial planning and research in German-speaking countries. The article takes a look at the exhibition DieRaum23.

The fourth edition of DieRaum took place at the beginning of November 2023 in the TVFA hall in Vienna's fourth district and attracted numerous visitors. Originally launched by students at TU Wien, DieRaum offers a platform for projects on various spatial planning topics. In collaboration with teaching staff and the spatial planning student council, DieRaum has developed into a self-organised course for Bachelor's and Master's students, in which the students design the exhibition themselves from the idea to the construction.

DieRaum23 was organised under the motto "Claim Your Space!" and was dedicated to the topic of space appropriation. The exhibition was developed by the students in workshops and highlighted the physical and social dimensions of the appropriation of space in various contexts. The aim was to create an awareness of spatial appropriation practices and to look at spatial planning from a new perspective.

A diverse supporting programme with lectures, film evenings, workshops and panel discussions complemented the exhibition and invited visitors to actively engage with the topic of spatial appropriation.

Despite the many challenges involved in organising and staging the exhibition, the students were able to hone important soft skills such as self-organisation, teamwork and communication. The experiences from DieRaum23 have broadened the students' understanding of spatial appropriation and enabled them to put theoretical concepts into practice.

The next DieRaum exhibition is already scheduled for next autumn, where exciting projects and spatial planning topics will once again be presented.
