Courses offered in the summer semester 2022

The summer semester 2022 is approaching in leaps and bounds. At the Research Unit of Regional Planning and Regional Development, a number of exciting courses for the Bachelor and Master programmes will be offered.

As usual, the compulsory coursesRegional Planning Practise, opens an external URL in a new window and Spatial Development Planning, opens an external URL in a new window (preparatory seminar for Project 2) take place as part the Bachelor program. This semester, the lecture Regional Planning Practice deals with the federal province of Salzburg. For study beginners there will also be an Orientation Week, opens an external URL in a new window in the summer semester.

The bachelor seminar offered by the Research Unit of Regional Planning in the upcoming semester focuses on spatial planning along rivers and in river regions (Bachelor Thesis – over~flow, opens an external URL in a new window). The specific characteristics of rivers as a resources for the future development of rural regions will be investigated in individual theses. The focus lies on the relevance of rivers for the common good (accessibility and usability), inter-communal and regional cooperation in river regions, energy planning along rivers, mobility aspects, the role of rivers as border entities, as well as the thematic areas climate change, sustainability and overflow society. For the Master program, the Diploma Seminar Region, opens an external URL in a new window will be offered again. Registrations are possible from 15.02.2022.

The trinational master project (P3) entitled Positive Energy Districts, opens an external URL in a new window, organized by Hartmut Dumke in cooperation with the Faculty of Geography at the University of Belgrade and the STU Bratislava, deals with "Positive Energy Districts" by example of a real planning area in Trenčín (SK). First, a general understanding of the concept is provided. In addition the practical process for the transformation of a settlement (heat and power supply as well as mobility) in terms of integrated spatial and energy planning is carried out. Methods of integrated spatial and energy planning as well as GIS tools and governance approaches are used. Students will be working together in mixed international groups (10 to 15 students from each country).
