Visiting Fellow: Alexander Follmann

Alexander Follmann (PhD 2015 and Habilitation 2023, University of Cologne, Germany) is an urban and economic geographer working on sustainable urban and regional development in the context of global environmental change and globalisation. His research focuses on 1) peri-urban transformations in the Global South, and 2) smart cities and public participation in Germany. He is currently Interim Professor for Urban and Regional Research at the University of Bonn, Germany. He is also a member of the Steering Committee of the Global South Studies Center (GSSC) at the University of Cologne, where he is currently on leave from his position as postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at the Institute of Geography.

Since August 2023, he is Visiting Fellow at SRF - Research Unit Urban and Regional Research.
