As part of the course International Planning - Biennale 2023 - The Laboratory of the Future, opens an external URL in a new window the excursion to Venice took place from 31.05. to 02.06.2023. The excursion was organized by Kurt Weninger, opens an external URL in a new window and Helene Schauer (architecture collective AKT). The focus was the Biennale exhibition at the Giardinie and Arsenale site. The Austrian pavilion deals with the question of the power of disposition over space and the social shifts that architecture triggers. Spatial displacement processes and the loss of infrastructure have been leading to a steady depopulation of the city for decades. The plan was, together with Hermann Czech, to open up a part of the building to the adjacent district and to "cede" it freely to the population. This project failed, however, which was again the subject of the exhibition.
In addition to the Biennale, the area around the exhibition grounds and central urban development projects in Venice were also visited. Arthur Kanonie, opens an external URL in a new windowr and Barbara Steinbrunner, opens an external URL in a new window from the Research Field Soil also took part in the excursion.
