Mobile, reliable test device

At TU Wien, a floor slip tester was developed to determine the slip resistance of floor coverings on site. This device is particularly suitable for the quality control of floors in industry, laboratories, canteen kitchens, hospitals, shopping centres and public spaces.

The determination of slip resistance is decisive for compliance with safety regulations, or for determining liability issues. Accident analyses prove a direct correlation between accident risk and the slip resistance of floor coverings.

With the presented device, immediate results can be obtained on site regarding the slip resistance or step security of the floor. This helps to avoid higher costs, e.g. for premature floor replacement, or to justify improvements in anti-slip performance.

At present, conventional measurement methods include complex laboratory testing procedures that cannot be used on site, or complicated, unwieldy devices that can show considerable deviations.
