We see these hematically clearly defined research projects of excellent scientific quality at an international level in the field of basic research. Both the research question and a highly qualified team are fundamental requirements for a successful submission.  There must be a clear impact on the scientific community. It is often also advantageous to address social relevance and the gender dimension. Also consider possible research ethics aspects!

Some programmes explicitly invite junior researchers to submit a small, well-defined research project as their first independent projects, e.g. WWTF Programmes, FWF Individual Projects, FWF-1000 Ideas, OeNB Jubiläumsfond.
