Univ.Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr.mont. Vasiliki-Maria Archodoulaki has been appointed University Professor for Polymer Technology and Sustainability at TU Wien with effect from July 1, 2025. She is assigned to the Institute of Materials Science and Technology (E308) of the Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.

Vasiliki-Maria Archodoulaki comes from Thessaloniki (Greece). She studied plastics engineering at the Montanuniversität Leoben, where she graduated in 1990 and received the “Voest-Alpine-Stahl Award for Outstanding Diploma Theses” for her diploma thesis. In 1993, she received her Dr.mont. with a dissertation on “Optimierung des Eigenschaftsprofils von intumeszierenden Brandschutzmassen auf Basis von Blähgraphit, opens an external URL in a new window.” After her dissertation, she conducted research as a university assistant at IFA-Tulln (Department of Agrobiotechnology) before moving to the Institute of Materials Science and Materials Technology at TU Wien as a postdoctoral researcher in 1998. In 2005, she qualified as a professor in plastics engineering with a habilitation thesis on “Eigenschaftsänderungen von Polyoxymethylenen induziert durch Verarbeitung, Alterung und Recycling, opens an external URL in a new window”. She has already been awarded the Best Teaching Award three times in a row (Best Teacher Award - 2018, Best Lecture Award 2019, and Best Teacher Award - 2020). Vasiliki-Maria Archodoulaki is also very active within the university in various committees and boards: during the 2017-2019 Senate term, she was a substitute member and, in the two Senate terms since 2019, a full member of the group of university lecturers and scientific and artistic staff in research, art, and teaching. Since 2023, she has also been the ombudsperson for studies and teaching, together with former Vice Rector Matyas.

Vasiliki-Maria Archodoulaki's academic home is in the Polymer and Composite Materials research area (E308-02) at the aforementioned institute. She has headed the Structural Polymers research group there since 2011.
