Professor DI Dr. Christian Gierl-Mayer completed his diploma studies in technical chemistry and doctoral studies in technical sciences at the Vienna University of Technology. This was followed by 3 years as a research assistant at the Austrian Research Institute for Chemistry and Technology (OFI). In 2003, he returned to the Institute of Chemical Technology and Analytics as a university assistant. In 2016, Prof. Gierl-Mayer received a career position for Metallic Sintered Materials. In 2019, he habilitated in powder metallurgy, was appointed Associate Professor and took over as head of the Powder Metallurgy research group. In 2021, he was appointed Head of the Chemical Technologies research area. In 2022, he accepted the professorship for Chemical Technology of Metals at TU Wien.
Research interests:
Prof. Gierl-Mayer's research focuses on powder metallurgy and the interaction of metals with their environment during various production processes. Additive manufacturing of sinter-based systems is the third focus of his research activities.
