Printer setup for printers outside your own VLAN

Depending on the location, the printers are assigned to the networks of the respective research areas (offices) and should be easy to find within the network via step 1.

For computers that are not in the corresponding network (especially laboratory PCs) and want to connect to printers, the following instructions are provided.

These instructions have been written as an example for Windows PCs. For Linux and Mac users, the analogy applies - connect directly via IP address (step 5).

Printer driver installtation

Prerequisites:

The computer is connected to our LAN (cable)
The correct driver (<= Link) is installed
- This installation is not necessary if you have already used our office printers in the past (and your PC was not reset)

1: Use the taskbar(Windows button) to search for „printers and scanners“

2: Select „printers and scanners“

3: Select „add printer or scanner” and wait a few seconds
