With the roomTUlearn project, centrally and locally managed teaching rooms are opened as learning spaces and are available to our students in need of a quiet workspace to study or to participate in distance learning lectures.

Overview of available rooms

The available time slots for the respective day as well as the following day can be viewed in the TISS roomTUlearn, opens an external URL in a new window section.

This compact overview shows all available time slots of at least 2 hours displayed by campus.

A booking request is not necessary. The learning rooms are available to students at the specified time slots within the room capacities indicated in TISS. 

From 29 April 2024, selected roomTUlearn will also be available on Saturdays and Sundays. In addition, the usual roomTUlearn rooms will be open longer from Monday to Friday and remain accessible until 10 pm. These new opening hours will apply during the exam-intensive phase until 7 July 2024.

The following rooms will be open on Saturdays and Sundays, subject to availability

Karlsplatz - area AEU1, seminar room AEU1-1 and seminar room AEU1-2
Freihaus - HTU study room on the ground floor
Getreidemarkt - TU.it Internet room in the basement

If, by any chance, you find a roomTUlearn that is shown as available in the daily display in TISS locked, please contact the porter of the respective location.

Possibilities of use

Students who wish to use the infrastructure in the form of a neutral room, stable WLAN and quiet surrounding can do so in certain teaching rooms subject to availability. Other technical requirements must be met by the students themselves (laptop, documents, etc.).

Terms of use

  • House rules and general safety and hygiene measures must be observed.
  • A strict ban on alcohol applies.
  • Noise must be avoided.
  • The capacity limit shown in TISS must not be exceeded.
  • The roomTUlearn must be left clean.

Access to the study rooms is possible from Monday to Saturday without restrictions. On Sundays, students must show their TU Wien student ID card at the porter's lodge to gain access to the rooms.

The compliance with the terms of use will be controlled randomly by the regular rounds of the security service.

Equipment

roomTUlearn are lecture halls or seminar rooms in central or local administration.

Group Study Rooms

The library of the TU Vienna offers several group study rooms.

From 11 April 2024, group study room 4 in the library will be equipped with a smartboard with whiteboard function as part of a pilot project in cooperation between the library team and the central teaching and learning room management team. A Meeting Owl can also be booked in the library to enable hybrid learning and meeting scenarios for students in the group study rooms. During the pilot phase until the end of the summer semester 2024, a questionnaire will be used to survey the use of the media technology provided as a basis for further development considerations for the hybrid learning group offer at TU Wien

Individual rooms for onsite exams can be provided on a limited basis.
