The Doctoral Center supports the structured doctoral education at TU Wien. Within this framework, TU Wien ensures the implementation of multidisciplinary, structured doctoral programmes on the basis of the curriculums for doctoral studies in Social and Economic Sciences, Engineering Sciences, and Natural Sciences. 

To this end, TU Wien doctoral programs are announced once a year for TU Wien researchers via Mitteilungsblatt. The programs aim to provide young scientists with an excellent, interdisciplinary education based on top-tier international research.
A strong multidisciplinary training concept is essential for the application and financing. This concept must be implemented over at least 3 years for a maximum of 10 highly motivated students in top research areas of TU Wien, represented by 5 to 10 researchers as faculty. The decision is made by the University Board.

To support the training of excellent young academics, one further structured doctoral college (DK) with a term of four years will be established at the Technische Universität Wien in the field of “Biosensors and Medical Devices” in the academic year 2025/26, with the first three years being funded by the Rectorate. The fourth year is financed in coordination between the Deans and the TUW-DK Faculty by funds from the faculty and/or third-party funds.

The doctoral college also fosters collaboration with our strategic partner, Imperial College London, in the thematic areas of the call. Accordingly, the submitted proposals should include plans for collaboration with the respective institutes at Imperial, supported by Letters of Intent.
