Since October 2023, TU Wien has had a Research Ethics Committee (TUW REC), the implementation of which was preceded by a multi-year pilot phase. The TUW REC can be characterized as consultative and it conducts research ethics peer reviews. Researchers at TU Wien who involve human participants in their research may participate in the TUW REC. The TUW REC is not primarily a body that approves your research proposal, but allows for interdisciplinary peer reflection.

Meetings are held on the third Friday of each month during the semester. At this meeting, you will receive collegial feedback from peer reviewers (TUW researchers from a variety of disciplines) on research ethics issues in your research proposal.

The TUW REC is currently in high demand – if you wish to discuss your research project in this context, please contact us in time: ethics@tuwien.ac.at

TUW REC peer reviewers: Geraldine Fitzpatrick, Clemens Heitzinger, Petra Hirschler, Eugenijus Kaniusas, Markus Kattenbeck, Sabine Köszegi, Peter Purgathofer, Stefan Scheiner, Kees van Berkel, Manuela Waldner, Michael Wimmer.
