Experimental Particle Physics

The  main focus lies on the participation in large experiments at CERN - Europe's largest particle physics laboratory and at KEK, the national high energy research center in Japan. Moreover the Institute of High Energy Physics (HEPHY) participates in the design of the ILD experiment at the International Linear Collider (ILC).

Fundamental Interactions

In the domain of nuclear physics the study of the strongly interacting particles, the hadrons, is of main interst. The internal structure of the hadrons, which are built up of quarks, is described by quantum chromodynamics (QCD). Members of the group are working in one of the most active branches of this theory, Lattice QCD.
