The research group machine elements and Transmassion for Aviation headed by Prof. Michael Weigand mainly deals with problems in the field of drive train technology, especially with gears in aircrafts.

The aircraft systems research group headed by Prof. Martin Berens deals with the conceptual design of aircraft with a focus on fixed-wing aircraft and aircraft systems with a focus on the efficient integration of conventional and unconventional propulsion systems. The work of the research group is guided by the vision of a future climate-neutral aviation.
