At this test rig experimental investigations of Pelton runners can be conducted till a runner diameter of 600mm. The runner is driven by a DC-motor generator with maximal power Pmax = 200kW and speed n = ± 0 - 3000 min-1.

A hydrostatic bearing unit is used to consider the torque losses due to friction in the shaft bearing and to determine the runner torque and efficiency. Moreover, experimental investigations of housing, beam deflection, nozzle, needle or other parts can be executed in one or multiple nozzle configuration.
