Research Unit Engineering Geology

In the research unit of engineering geology, the focus of research is on geogenic risk research in the field of applied rock mechanics, especially with regard to the stability of rock slopes, building foundations and tunnels.

Numerical methods are used to analyse the stability and failure mechanisms of valley sides and rock slopes, to dimension tunnels and caverns, and also to simulate geological processes (e.g. in the modelling of rockfall and rock avalanches). More about us
