The program highlights various castles and palaces in the eastern Waldviertel. In the final part of the program, there is a detailed report about Drosendorf Castle and its current use as a rural university by the Faculty of Architecture and Spatial Planning of the TU Wien. There is also an interview with our colleague Sybilla Zech.

Drosendorf Castle, located on the banks of the Thaya River in the northeastern part of the Waldviertel region in the middle of the town of the same name, offers material for several historical as well as contemporary stories. The former castle, whose masonry is still part of the historic town wall, was expanded into a chateau in 1694. The lord of the castle, Baudouin de Troostembergh, developed the extensive complex into a center of social life. In addition to artists, the landuni also uses the site to develop concepts for the revitalization of rural areas.
