This year, TU Wien once again sent out a strong signal for visibility, diversity and solidarity with the LGBTIQA+ community. On Monday, June 2, the rainbow flag was ceremoniously raised in front of the main building on Karlsplatz. Representatives of the Ally Network and institutional supporters of the community took part in the symbolic act. The flag will remain raised throughout Pride Month - as a visible commitment to equality, respect and open cooperation at TU Wien, especially at a time when homophobic and trans-hostile attacks are on the rise.
Five years of the TU Wien Ally Network
This special day was not just a celebration of Pride Month: TU Wien's Ally Network can look back on five successful years! Since its foundation, it has been an important point of contact for the LGBTIQA+ community and committed supporters. It promotes the cohesion of all those who are committed to a non-discriminatory environment. Louisa Holub, Head of Diversity Management, has coordinated the network since its launch in 2020.
Celebrate with Priscilla - movie night for Pride Month
To mark the anniversary of the Ally network, all interested parties are invited to a special movie night: Top Kino (1060 Vienna, Rahlgasse 1 / corner of Gumpendorferstraße) hosted a screening of the cult film Priscilla - Queen of the Desert. The colorful, touching film focuses on queer life realities with humor and heart. The movie screening offers space for exchange, community and a clear sign for diversity. Please register by 3 p.m. on June 2 at diversity@tuwien.ac.at
Events during Pride Month - for diversity, respect and togetherness without exclusion
Pride Month offers many more opportunities to fly the flag: From the Pride Village on Rathausplatz to the “queerdurchwien” city tour and the rainbow parade on June 14, there is something for everyone.
