Study content

In the Master's Programme Quantum Information Science and Technology, students acquire the necessary basic knowledge of quantum physics, quantum information science and the relevant technology platforms in the modules “Quantum Physics”, “Quantum Technology and Devices” and “Quantum Information and Computing”. They then have the opportunity to choose a specialization from a cross-faculty specialization catalog. This allows both a harmonization of the educational level as well as a flexible adaptation to individual interests and strengths.

Admission

Admission to the Master's Programme in Quantum Information Science and Technology requires the completion of a relevant Bachelor's Programme or another relevant degree course of at least the same higher education level at a recognized domestic or foreign post-secondary educational institution. A degree program is eligible if basic knowledge, skills and competencies in the fields of linear algebra, analysis, statistics and programming are taught. In any case, the Bachelor's Programmes "Technical Physics", "Electrical Engineering and Information Technology", "Computer Science", "Computer Engineering" and "Technical Mathematics" at the TU Wien are eligible. Supplementary examinations may be prescribed to compensate for significant subject-specific differences and must be taken by the end of the second semester of the Master's Programme.

This Programme is taught in English. Applicants whose first language is not English must provide proof of the required language skills. The form of proof is specified in a regulation issued by the Rectorate.
