For all bachelor's programmes offered at TU Wien there are either entrance exam procedures for programmes with a limited number of places (Computer Science, Architecture and Spatial Planning), or a study preparation and reflection phase (Programme-PRe-Phase) for self-orientation (for non-limited programmes) to be completed before admission and before personal enrolment at TU Wien!

Information on the admission procedures and the Programme-PRe-phase can be found in the description of the study programme and at entrance exam and aptitude procedures.

NOTE!
The online registration including the Programme-PRe-phase must be completed in full by 5 September (winter semester) or 5 February (summer semester) at the latest! Otherwise admission is not possible. Personal enrolment at the Admissions Office can be carried out during the admission period once the Programme-PRe-phase has been completed.

Supplementary examination Descriptive Geometry

For the following bachelor programmes, at least 4 hours per week of Descriptive Geometry after the 8th school year must be proven in accordance with the University Entrance Qualification Decree ("Universitätsberechtigungsverordnung" – UBVO):

  • Architecture
  • Chemical and Process Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Geodesy and Geoinformation
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering - Management

Descriptive Geometry cannot be replaced by ‘Geometric Drawing’!

If sufficient proof of Descriptive Geometry cannot be provided, the additional examination must be taken during the bachelor programme, at the latest before the final bachelor's examination. TU Wien offers corresponding courses for this purpose.

Three Steps to Admission

Graphics: admission in three steps

First step

Initially, please inform yourself in detail about the bachelor's programmes offered at TU Wien. Depending on your chosen degree programme, you can then complete the online registration.

Second step

Complete the entrance exam procedure or the Programme-PRe-phase. Please note that there are separate registration deadlines for bachelor's programmes with entrance exam procedures (Computer Science, Architecture and Spatial Planning). If you miss these deadlines, you will not be able to register for the entrance exam until the following year, as the online registration is always valid for one academic year and takes place in the spring before the start of the winter semester.

Third step

If you have successfully completed the entrance exam or the Programme-PRe-phase, you can finalise your admission by enrolling in person at the Admissions Office. There are different procedures for this:

Step 1:

If you have been awarded a study place after completing the admission procedure, you must complete the online degree programme application. At the end of the online programme application, you will be asked to upload the following documents to apply for admission:

  1. Austrian/equivalent school-leaving certificate (+ proof of German language proficiency of C1 CEFR level)
  2. valid passport or identity card
  3. if applicable: leaving certificate (if you have already been admitted to another Austrian university for the intended degree programme)
  4. if applicable: certificate of any change of name

You do NOT have to come to the Admissions Office in person! Admission is only possible online.

Step 2:

The uploaded documents will be checked by the staff of the Admission Office. If any documents are missing, incorrect or illegible, you will be asked to upload them again. You will be notified via your account in the online registration. Additionally, you will also be informed by email that you have received a message from the study department. If the documents are not uploaded within the set deadline, your admission will be rejected.

Step 3:

As soon as your application for admission has been approved, you will of course be informed. You must then transfer the ÖH contribution/study fee to finalise your admission. You will receive the necessary information by email. The student ID card (TUCard) will be sent to you by post to the address you provided in your online registration.

If you would like to start a bachelor's programme at TU Wien without an entrance exam procedure, you must first complete the online registration (including the Programme-PRe-phase). You can only enrol in person at the Admissions Office once you have completed the PRe-phase.

In order to complete the online registration, you must book an appointment at the Admissions Office at the end of the online registration (this is only necessary in the winter semester).

Please bring the following documents with you to enrol:

All documents must be presented either as original or as a certified copy, without exception.

If you have never been admitted to a degree programme at another Austrian university, you will receive an eight-digit student ID number and your student ID card (TUcard) when you enrol in person at the Admissions Office.
