The workshop covered X-ray powder diffraction methods and discussion of suitable analyses. What should I consider when preparing a sample for a measurement and which technique can I use for which task?

The workshop dealt with:

• Hands-on for all aspects handheld
• Theoretical Background concerning Pair Distribution Function (PDF) and Line Profile Analysis (LPA) including Whole Powder Pattern Modelling (WPPM)
• Instrumental diffraction techniques, sample preparation methods and setup of a measurement for powder diffraction experiments appropriate for those techniques (including a lab course)
• Data treatment
• Simulation and information extraction from data
• Discussion of complementary techniques

The workshop was intended for master and PhD students or Post-Doc level.
