Many of our goals are not new — we have been pursuing them for years. But university processes are notoriously slow. We will continue to push until meaningful change happens.

Budget, space, and staffing decisions must be based on clear, consistent, and fair criteria.
Development plans and target agreements are not enough — transparency is still lacking.

Years of work funded through third-party research should not end abruptly due to fear of “chain contracts” or vague, unexplained reasons.
This practice must change.

A university is more than research.
Teaching, university self-governance, Third Mission activities, mentoring, and teamwork are essential pillars of academic life.

These contributions must be acknowledged, valued, and incorporated into career decisions such as tenure-track evaluations or habilitations.

Sustainability is an important issue for us, as it consists of energy, social and governance aspects. As a works council, we are particularly concerned with the S (social) aspect, i.e. people, and the G (governance) aspect, e.g. in the area of employee protection and workplace regulations – core issues for a responsible works council. For these reasons, sustainability is not a marginal issue for us, but a core issue of modern working conditions.
We support the fuTUre fit initiatives and see a clear need for action so that TU Wien finally establishes sustainable standards and creates a responsible, future-proof working environment.

Teaching is supposed to be a core pillar of the university — but in practice, it often results in unfairly distributed workloads.
We advocate for a fair, realistic distribution of teaching duties and for strengthening the recognition of teaching overall.

Creative and productive work is impossible in rooms where you constantly freeze or overheat.
We demand healthy, suitable room conditions for all employees.

As the Science Busters say: “Those who know nothing must believe everything.”
Information at TU Wien exists — but is often hard to find.

We want to change that by:

  • providing clear, structured, target-group-oriented information
  • significantly improving the Works Council website
  • offering practical FAQs on rights, processes, and options for staff

Doctoral students must be able to complete their dissertations within a reasonable timeframe, even without explicit legal regulations.
We aim to identify causes and implement measures that help doctoral candidates finish successfully.

Whether general staff, student staff, predocs, postdocs, senior lecturers, professors, or external lecturers —
we all contribute to TU Wien.

Respect and equality of interaction are not optional — they are the minimum standard.

Conflicts are normal. Escalating conflicts are not.
We call for:

  • socially competent leadership
  • clear responsibility and accountability
  • openness to criticism
  • swift action when problems arise

Progress has been made — but far too slowly.
We demand:

  • more childcare options
  • consideration of personal life circumstances
  • fair treatment in qualification agreements
  • unbiased evaluation criteria for hiring and promotions

Special payments such as holiday bonuses, the 13th/14th salary, and allowances must be handled correctly and to the employees’ advantage. We advocate for transparent use of legally available tax benefits, avoidance of unnecessary tax disadvantages, and clear information for staff — ensuring that more net income remains, fully within legal boundaries.

Together for a Better TU Wien

We are ready to take responsibility.
We stand for transparency, fairness, and respect.
We stand for the people who make this university what it is.
