TU Wien and the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) initiate a joint training focus for doctoral and diploma students in the field of innovation and sustainability

A key driver for the competitiveness of national economies in global competition is the sustainable development of innovation capability and effective technology management. The continuously increasing complexity and dynamics of innovation systems pose a particular challenge for the actors involved. The demand for high-quality trained and socially competent experts for a modern research, technology and innovation (RTI) policy has therefore increased enormously. Against this background, the Foresight & Policy Development Department of the AIT and TU Wien have decided to implement a training focus for doctoral and diploma students in the field of innovation and sustainability in the form of a cooperation program "Organising Innovation and Emerging Technologies - Knowledge and Talent Development Programme" (OIET). Within the framework of this cooperation program, the AIT and the TU Wien will annually award scholarships for doctoral and diploma students in the focus areas of strategic management of innovations, organizational models of innovations as well as industrial competitiveness and new technologies, thus establishing a high-quality training focus in the area of innovation and sustainability at the Institute of Management Sciences. The program is headed by Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Leitner for AIT and Prof. Dr. Sabine Köszegi for TU Wien. "With this cooperation, not only synergies in basic and applied research between the two research institutions can be used, but also a broad pool of talented young scientists can be addressed both in the university and non-university research sector," say the two program directors about the benefits of the joint training focus.

The program is supported by the network partners Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT) as well as the agencies Austria Wirtschaftsservice (AWS), Forschungsförderungsgesellschaft (FFG), Fond zur Förderung von Wissenschaft und Forschung (FWF), Wiener Wissenschafts und Technologiefond (WWTF).
