Short CV

Since January 2021, Shiyang Zhou has been working as a project assistant in the research area of Mechanical Engineering Informatics and Virtual Product Development (MIVP) at TU Wien.

He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Automation in 2015 at Jilin University.

From 2015 to 2016, he worked as a quality engineer at FAW-Volkswagen, where he specialized in the fault rectification process (FAP) for the VW Golf.

In 2019, he successfully completed his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany. He wrote his Master’s thesis, titled “A Soft Electromagnetic Motor”, at ETH Zurich in Switzerland.

After graduation, he worked at Panta Rhei gGmbH in Germany, focusing on Artificial Intelligence Supported Process Control and Numerical Simulation of the LPBF Process, with a particular emphasis on the transfer of machine learning methods into industrial applications.

Research Interests

As part of the Rail4Future project, in collaboration with industrial partners ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG and Siemens Mobility, Mr. Zhou is engaged in the design and development of a digital twin platform. His work centers on the model reduction of multi-body simulation models (MBS) using machine learning methods, automated parameterization through reinforcement learning, and the practical application of data-driven methods in industrial environments.

Mr. Zhou has extensive experience in data analysis, digital twin development, and the implementation of machine learning algorithms in industrial scenarios. Through his work, he contributes to the integration of intelligent, data-driven methods into modern industrial processes and brings a strong passion for applying scientific knowledge to industrial applications, continuously expanding his technical expertise.
