The cold air turbine is a single stage turbine that enables research on turbine blades for rotating systems. At present, the minimum hub-diameter of the turbine is 310mm, where the current design is equipped with blades that are 60mm tall and air is provided by the SGP compressor. To support its operation, an eddy current brake (Borghi & Saveri FE 150 S) and a Venturi tube on the outlet are used for achieving mandatory operational conditions. Additionally, the radial and circumferential traversing system can be fitted with pressure probes or hot-wire anemometry (DANTEC Streamline).
