New FWF Special research area (SFB) for PROBA

In December 2023, the Austrian Science fund (FWF) has approved the funding of the research network (SFB) "Discrete random structures: enumeration and scaling limits, opens an external URL in a new window" with a budget of 4.3M Euros over 4 years. The network combines the probability and combinatorics groups at the Technical University of Vienna, University of Vienna and Technical University of Graz in a series of joint projects on random discrete structures arising in mathematical physics and in particular in statistical mechanics. Two of the PIs of the research network (Fabio Toninelli and Marcin Lis) are members of the Probability group of the Technical University of Vienna.

Ivailo Hartarsky (FWF postdoc in the PROBA group) was awarded the 2022 Jacques Neveu prize (http://smai.emath.fr/spip.php?article882&lang=fr) as well as the "Prix solennel de these de la Chancellerie des Universites de Paris" (https://www.sorbonne.fr/la-chancellerie-des-universites-de-paris/v2la-chancellerie-des-universites-de-paris-recompense-lexcellence-universitaire-et-propose-des-prix/les-prix-universitaires/).
