We engage in fundamental remote sensing research, developing methods for the stepwise processing of remote sensing data from low-level instrument data to geophysical variables on uniform space-time grids. To free us from any constraints by external software, we have developed our own software packages for the processing of scatterometer (ERS SCAT, Metop ASCAT, Metop-SG SCA) and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data (ENIVSAT ASAR, Sentinel-1) at global scale. Because it is very important for us that our methods and data are being used, we also seek the cooperation with other geoscientists with the aim to develop novel applications of our remote sensing data products. Several of our data products are available as free and open data from EUMETSAT’s Satellite Application Facility on support to Operational Hydrology and Water Management (H SAF), opens an external URL in a new window, the Copernicus Global Land Monitoring Service, opens an external URL in a new window, and the Copernicus Emergency Management Service, opens an external URL in a new window.
