Attention future engineers!

Geodesy and Geoinformation is everywhere in our everyday lives—from construction projects and environmental monitoring to Google Maps on your cell phone.

But what exactly does this field of study involve? The term “geodesy” comes from ancient Greek and can be translated as “dividing the earth.” The keyword EARTH is at the heart of geodesy, as it deals with the measurement and division of the earth's surface. Directly related to this is geoinformation, which is used to analyze and visualize geodetic data. This keeps scientists informed about climate change, allows them to observe developments in glaciers, lakes, and soils, and prepare adequately for possible natural disasters. 3D models are also displayed in VR (virtual reality(, and self-driving cars recognize their surroundings through geodata!
