Wolf-Dieter Frei

Wolf-Dieter Frei studied spatial planning at the Vienna University of Technology and held an active research and teaching position at the Research Unit of Local Planning between 1981 and 2015. Main research and teaching interests:  Urban and local design; Methodology and design relevance of municipal development planning; Computer-aided visualization and planning methods; Spatial impact analysis of planning instruments; Characteristics of urban form. His focus centred on retrieving the immaterial values of spatial structures and form with the help of environmental psychology and by taking into account the basic human need for a designed living space.
