Smart Electronics for Wearable and Health IOT

Andere

Guest Lecture: Dr. Lirong Zheng
Professor
KTH, Stockholm, Sweden & Fudan University, Shanghai, China

Abstract:
Advanced electronics towards future ubiquitous intelligence and internet‐of‐things requires high network throughput along with long operation range and ultra‐low energy consumption. Concurrent design of circuit, system, and communication has attracted new attention, aiming for ubiquitous sensing under energy‐autonomy by ambient energy harvest. In this talk, we present smart electronics design for sub‐100uW powered IoT devices, through trade‐offs for communication, circuit and system. Smart power management scheme with adaptive energy‐scavenging, self‐aware sleep and burst mode are exploited to facilitate energy autonomous operation. Compressed sampling based analog‐to‐information interface is implemented that not only simplifies the sensor front‐end but also reduces raw data to be transmitted thus significantly save energy. As the IoT application implementation examples, the speaker will also introduce his recent work on IoT pilot projects in area of smart
agricultural food and wearable healthcare etc.

Biography:
Dr. Zheng received his Ph. D. degree in electronic system design from KTH in 2001, and honorary doctor at Turku University in 2013.
