9 Billion People in 2050: How Can Agriculture Stand Up to the Challenge?

It is projected that the world will have a population of 9 billion people in the year
2050. There are many challenges that a large global population will face, and one
of the most important questions is: What will we eat? Agricultural production of
food will need to stand up to the tremendous challenge of providing for so many,
under stressed natural resources and a changing environment.

The Young Scientist Forum (YSF) is a platform for students to discuss potential
actions and practices that can help solve the problem. Solutions for our global
challenge may be found right here in Vienna. Organized by students and
presented by students, young scientists and other development researchers, the
YSF hopes to build bridges between disciplines and ignite interest and
cooperation for current and future scientists.

People who are expected to present include agricultural or development
scientists, Msc and PhD students and individuals from non- ?governmental
institutions, international organizations such as the United Nations and civil
society. Young scientists are particularly encouraged to present their research
projects and results. The forum is FREE and open to all students and the
interested public. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
