World Bank Projects in Developing Countries, Pekka Makkonen, University of Jyväskylä

Die Business Informatics Group lädt gemeinsam mit der Fakultät für Informatik der TU Wien, der Österreichischen Computer Gesellschaft und dem Verein ZIF Zentrum für Informatikforschung ein. Abstract During the academic year 2009-2010 Pekka Makkonen worked as the head of the ICT School in Afghanistan. He was in a world bank funded project. In his presentation, he focuses on the special characters of this kind of projects as well as challenges and problems in implementing ICT education in developing countries. Bio Pekka Makkonen has received his Master of Economic Sciences with teacher training from the University of Jyväskylä where he is working as a lecturer of information systems science. For international co-operation he has produced courses including issues connected to virtual learning environments and knowledge management. As the head of the ICT school at the National institute of management and administration in Kabul (August, 2009 – December, 2009 and March, 2010 – July, 2010), Pekka Makkonen has also helped Uniservices Ltd and Maxwell Stamp Plc to implement ICT education and courses in Afghanistan.
