Univ.Prof. Dr.sc. Susann Ahn and Univ.Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas E. Hauck were appointed as University Professors for Landscape Architecture and Landscape Planning at TU Wien with effect from 1.4.2021. Susann Ahn studied landscape architecture and landscape planning at TU Munich and completed her doctorate at ETH Zurich in 2019 with the topic "Cultural Laboratory Seoul. Emergence, Narrative and Impact of Culturally Related Landscape Meanings, opens an external URL in a new window". For several years, she managed international projects in various landscape architecture firms before becoming self-employed in the field of landscape architecture and mediation in 2013. She is the owner of the office "Ahn Landschaftsarchitektur Mediation, opens an external URL in a new window" and founding partner of "amedida group, opens an external URL in a new window". From 2011-2021 she also taught and researched at the Technical University of Munich and ETH Zurich. Her focus is on the interface of landscape architecture and communication using artistic-participative, process-oriented and conflict-resolving planning and design methods.

Thomas E. Hauck studied landscape architecture at the University of Hanover and Edinburgh College of Art and completed his doctorate at the Technical University of Munich in 2013 on the subject of "Landscape and design - the objectification of aesthetic ideas using the example of landscape, opens an external URL in a new window". From 2005-2014 he conducted research and taught at the Chair of Landscape Architecture and Public Space at the Technical University of Munich, and from 2014 at the Department of Open Space Planning at the University of Kassel. He is also an office partner at "Polinna Hauck Landscape+Urbanism" and managing director at "Studio Animal-Aided Design, opens an external URL in a new window". His focus is on the research and design of urban nature that allows and stimulates self-dynamic processes and on the development of urban and open space planning concepts of co-habitation from a "multispecies" perspective.

Their joint work focuses on integrated and explorative design, planning and appropriation methods. They are interested in the development of hybrid urban and natural spaces from the perspective of cohabitation and multispecies approaches. They aim at cooperative design and planning that promotes cohabitation at all levels in the face of conflicting and transformative spaces.

Susann Ahn and Thomas E. Hauck each share 50% of the Professorship of Landscape Architecture and Landscape Planning and are based in the Landscape Planning and Garden Art research area, opens an external URL in a new window. Since February 1, 2022, Susann Ahn has been Head of the Landscape Planning and Garden Art research area (E260-02).
