Welcome to TU Wien. Today, 1 October, marks the start of a new academic year and, for new students, the beginning of a whole new chapter in their lives. We wish you a successful start. The student councils, opens an external URL in a new window (Fachschaften) are the first point of contact for support in creating study plans or in case of uncertainties regarding STEOP, curriculum and registrations. New for the 2025/26 winter semester: In the first week of October, the student councils will be handing out goodie bags at the introductory events. Inside, students will find informative flyers, little surprises, HTU drink coasters and more.
The campus information systemTISS, opens an external URL in a new window is a platform where students can find the curriculum, register for courses and exams, download necessary documents (e.g. student record sheet and confirmation of enrolement) and access the calendar.
The e-learning platformTUWEL, opens an external URL in a new window (TUWien E-Learning) is available to lecturers, university staff and students to support teaching and studying (online resources, online submissions, chats, and much more).

The TU Wien Bibliothek is Austria's largest library for technical and scientific literature and specialist information. The specialist literature is available in printed and electronic form and can be used on site for research or borrowed. The library also offers study spaces and areas for teamwork.
HTU, opens an external URL in a new window, the student body at TU Wien, comprises of many different departments, all of which deal with different topics.
Recognition of exams: If students want to have credits recognised for work they completed at another educational institution prior to admission, they now have the opportunity to do so until the end of the second semester.
Student Support
Student Support offers students a range of support programmes. These range from barrier-free studying and GESTU (studying for deaf and hard-of-hearing students) to first-semester tutorials and the mentoring programme, an internal TU peer programme. Students also have access to psychological counselling, either individually or in groups in the form of various workshops. Suggestions, requests and complaints can be submitted to the ombudspersons at the Ombuds Office for Academic Affairs, easily and anonymously via an online form.
Students can contact the Student Information Office if they have any questions about admission, leave of absence, co-enrolment, changing courses or course offerings.
The Advice desk Student Support provides students with help if they feel stressed by their studies (emotionally, financially, etc.), have conflicts in their study environment or have questions about the support programmes at TU Wien. Simply book an appointment, opens an external URL in a new window for the Advice desk Student Support online and discuss your concerns in a confidential consultation on site at TU Wien or online.

On 2 October, students from all disciplines can attend TU welcome.day, opens an external URL in a new window to find out more about studying, make initial contacts with companies, have their CVs checked or have free application photos taken. Just drop by – no registration is required.
