Studying at TU Wien

Are you wondering what orange fish have to do with studying at TU Wien? More than you might think. Studying with us means solving exciting challenges and understanding technology. You will receive a solid scientific foundation, which you can deepen according to your interests. Latest discoveries in science are constantly being incorporated into teaching, which means your education is always up to date. Our graduates are in demand on the labour market and valued by top companies.

And now back to the fish: they are the result of a pioneering 3D printing process at TU Wien – an impressive example of how knowledge is transformed into innovation. Exchange ideas, get to know our services and become part of TU Wien – a university where ideas grow and the future takes shape.

This autumn we offer three courses to help you boost your computer simulations.

On clusters and distributed memory architectures, parallel programming with the Message Passing Interface (MPI) is the dominating programming model. What is more, multicore (shared memory) CPUs, which are most easily and efficiently programmed using OpenMP, can be found basically anywhere. In addition, computer simulations face an ever-growing need for scalability and are pushing the limitations on size, allowing properties to be simulated more accurately. Therefore, increasingly large data sets, be it reading input data or writing results, have to be processed.

All our courses start from a beginner’s level and lots of hands-on sessions (in C and Fortran) will allow users to immediately test and understand the basic concepts of parallel programming.

The courses are organized by the <link http: vsc.ac.at training>Vienna Scientific Cluster (VSC) at TU Wien, and for MPI and OpenMP this is done in cooperation with the<link http: www.hlrs.de training> High-Performance Computing-Center Stuttgart (HLRS).

All information about the courses as well as a detailed agenda and the registration link can be found in the links below from the website of the <link https: cec.tuwien.ac.at seminare spezialseminare>Continuing Education Center (CEC) of TU Wien and from the course program of the <link http: vsc.ac.at training>Vienna Scientific Cluster (VSC):
