Whether a data management plan (DMP) must be created for FFG projects depends on the funding program. Some of the tender guidelines point out that a DMP is a suitable tool for managing research data without explicitly asking for it. In this context, the publication of research data in recognised repositories and compliance with the FAIR principles are usually also mentioned to be beneficial.

Individual calls for proposals go beyond these recommendations and require a mandatory DMP for specific projects. This was the case for the first time in November 2020 for projects in the ICT of the Future funding program. The FFG generally provides data stewards to support the creation and implementation of required DMPs.

TU Wien DMP Tool

The FFG does not specify the form of the DMP, which is why there is no specific FFG template in the TU Wien DMP Tool, opens an external URL in a new window. Hence, you should use the Science Europe (SE) format for the export document based on the Practical Guide to the International Alignment of Research Data Management, opens an external URL in a new window.
