Short description: The aim of the PECTA project, in which 6 tasks are being worked on simultaneously (the Ecodesign research group is responsible for Task B), is to collect and analyse information on wide bandgap (WBG) power electronic devices, to coordinate internationally acceptable approaches to promote WGB-based power electronics and to develop a better understanding for policy makers.

Task B addresses 3 key questions:

  •     How does the manufacturing phase of WBG products differ from conventional Si-based products (especially in terms of energy consumption)?
  •     How does the application of WBG components affect the product design (e.g. size, weight, lifetime, heat generation, etc.)?
  •    Are there differences for WBG products in terms of disposal?
