The Photonic Technologies research area investigates applications and interactions of laser radiation with matter using simulations and experiments in the laboratory. Research activities include macro-, micro- and nano-machining of metallic as well as non-metallic materials. The activities of our research area are focused on current topics from industry and society as well as on basic research issues. Current findings from our research activities are incorporated into teaching in order to provide students with the appropriate tools for their future careers.

The Photonic Technologies research area is divided into two research groups:
