About us

The Research Unit Hydraulic Engineering and Environmental Hydromechanics is concerned with the science and technology of natural and built water systems. Understanding processes in natural systems is a prerequisite for designing sustainable engineering measures. Our core competence is water movement and its interactions with sediment transport, ecological processes and built structures. Our research is mainly inspired by problems in hydraulic engineering practice.
