During the visit to HILTI headquarters in Vienna organised by our research unit, students were able to learn about a wide range of topics relating to structural engineering. The focus was placed on the basic principles of fastening technology and its licensing. In addition, key topics such as BIM, fire protection and special solutions in building construction – including subsequent reinforcement connections, punching shear reinforcement – were also covered. - were also covered. 

A highlight of the excursion was the practical part: Students had the opportunity to place fasteners independently in test samples and drive them to failing point  and thereafter test them with testing equipment until they failed. This hands-on learning gave the participants valuable insights and deepened their understanding of the theoretical principles. Thanks to their co-operation, we were able to fully satisfy the students’ interest and offer them an educational experience.
