This year's Internationale Forum für Geoinformatik, opens an external URL in a new window took place in beautiful Salzburg between 4 and 6 July. Formerly called "Applied Geoinformation Days", now under a new name, the content remained as topical as ever: geoinformatics, GI Science and GeoIT with a strong focus on application, data and innovations, and of course networking.

Robert Kalasek took part in the conference and used the opportunity to attend numerous interesting sessions on the topics of mobility, soil sealing, energy transition, climate protection and new (especially open) geodata. A highlight was the session "How to teach and learn GIS in the Age of ChatGPT", in which, after a keynote speech, there was intensive discussion about the current situation and possible perspectives in dealing with artificial intelligence in the context of education.
