The book “Lokale Antworten auf aufenthaltsrechtliche Prekarität”brings together empirical and conceptual contributions on how city administrations and civil society actors support persons in residence precarity in the areas of health, housing and education. Examples from Bern, Cardiff, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Vienna, Zurich and Thuringia describe current practice and highlight legal, political and practical challenges as well as innovative approaches to overcoming them. The book aims to contribute to the academic debate, but also to provide concrete advice for practice in situations and circumstances characterised by contradictions, tensions and ambiguities, rejection and exclusion, but also empathy and solidarity.

The publication was based on the project "Local Responses to Precarious Migrants; Frames, Strategies, and Evolving Practices", opens an external URL in a new window funded by the Joint Programming Initiative "Urban Europe". The research results are complemented by further academic contributions and a series of practical contributions.
