A look back at REAL CORP 2025 in Graz

As every year, some students were able to attend the international REAL CORP conference as part of a course. Among other things, our research project land.mobil:LAB was presented there.

REAL CORP, opens an external URL in a new window is an annual urban and regional development conference that has been taking place since 1996 and was attended by almost 300 international guests from around 40 countries this year. Between April 14 and 16, 2025, the Johanneum Academy, opens an external URL in a new window in Graz (Styria) was the venue for over 100 expert presentations, intensive discussions and cheerful networking.

Every year, CORP organizer Manfred Schrenk enables a handful of students to experience CORP as guests as part of the course “Gaining knowledge through conference attendance, opens an external URL in a new window”. By taking part, students can not only socialize and possibly get to know a new city - CORP changes its location every year - but also deepen their expertise on spatial planning topics.

This year, a special thematic focus was placed on the mobility of the future. In line with this, our project assistant Céline Schmidt-Hamburger, opens an external URL in a new window gave a presentation on the land.mobil:LAB, opens an external URL in a new window research project. She suggested looking at “regional mobility laboratories as drivers of integrated mobility systems to promote sustainable development, social integration and an increase in the quality of life in rural areas” and presented the Waldviertel project region in Lower Austria as part of this.

The land.mobil:LAB is a research project running until 2029 from the research unit Regional Planning and Regional Development as well as Transport System Planning and is funded by the Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure, opens an external URL in a new window as part of the FTI program "Mobilitätswende, opens an external URL in a new window", handled by FFG Österreichische Forschungsförderungsgesellschaft mbH, opens an external URL in a new window.
