In this one-hour webinar hosted by TU Graz, we welcome a guest from Germany: Cord Wiljes, Scientific Officer at the association Nationale Forschungsdateninfrastruktur (NFDI) e.V, will give an overview of NFDI’s goals, organisation, and practical work. In addition, activities for networking with international research data infrastructures will be presented.
NFDI aims to establish and permanently operate a comprehensive range of research data management services for researchers from all disciplines in Germany. Funded with up to 90 million euros per year from 2020 to 2028, the project aims to make research data sustainably available in accordance with the FAIR principles.
In the 26 domain-specific NFDI consortia, representatives from different universities and research institutions work together to establish standards for their communities. Cross-cutting topics are dealt with in sections overarching the consortia. The four sections deal with:
- the creation of multi-cloud shared infrastructure,
- ethical, legal, and social issues,
- (meta)data, terminologies, provenance as well as
- education and training.
The activities to establish the national research data infrastructure are coordinated by the non-profit association Nationale Forschungsdateninfrastruktur (NFDI) e.V based in Karlsruhe.
