On May 8, the ANC-ESB Meeting (European Society of Biomechanics – Austrian National Chapter) took place at TU Wien. Our team was prominently represented with four contributions, showcasing current research in various fields of biomechanics through both oral and poster presentations.

Prof. Margit Gföhler opened the session with a talk on
“Upper Extremity Exoskeletons as Assistive Devices”, presenting recent developments and challenges in the use of exoskeletons for arm support.

Seyyed Hossein Monsefi Estakhrposhti, PhD student in our team, presented his work on
“Oxygen Transport Modeling in Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenators with Sinusoidal Fiber Morphology” For his outstanding presentation, he was awarded the Best Junior Presentation Prize – congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

During the poster session, two more exciting projects from our group were presented:

Thomas Angeli showcased his poster
“Modeling and Simulation of the Lumbar Spine While Wearing a Backpack with OpenSim” exploring the effects of backpack loading on the lumbar spine using simulation-based methods.

Veronica Viola presented her poster
“Influence of Stent Strut Thickness on Local Hemodynamics and Vascular Cell Response” highlighting the relationship between stent design and vascular cell behavior.

We are proud of our team’s strong participation and congratulate all contributors on their excellent presentations
